The event will be held on Thursday, March 23rd, at University Center Commons, University of Wisconsin -- Fond du Lac, 400 University Drive, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The registration deadline is Wednesday, March 15th.
A bountiful stand-up buffet, sponsored by Charter, will be provided by Linstrom's Special Occasion Catering. The program, in the adjacent Prairie Theater, will immediately follow the networking hour. Agnesian HealthCare is sponsoring our speaker, Don Iannone, author of the soon-to-be-released "Creating Leadership Advantage for Economic Development." Elegant desserts and gourmet coffee will conclude our evening.

Global Trade Conference: April 11thThe Fourth Annual Northeastern Wisconsin Global Trade Conference, "A Road to Success: Practical Strategies for Going Global," will be held Tuesday, April 11th at the Bridgewood Conference Center in Neenah. This year's keynote speakers will be Terry Growcock, chairman of the board and CEO of the Manitowoc Co., Inc., and Justin McCarthy, US Trade Representative for Intergovernmental Affairs.
The conference is designed primarily for CEOs of large and small businesses, business owners, senior management teams, government officials, educators, economic development professionals and college and university students.
The day will feature three tracks including business topics, regional updates and a student-specific track. Break-out sessions will include import procedures and documentation, making free trade agreements work from the perspectives of the US Trade Policy and Wisconsin companies, identifying overseas markets and international education opportunities.
Registration fee is $65 for those who register by March 24th. Registration fee after that date is $75. Student registration fee is $10 if registered by March 24th or $12 after that date. The conference is being presented in conjunction with U.S. Rep. Tom Petri and U.S. Rep. Mark Green .

Hicks-Sorensen named Interim PresidentBrenda Hicks-Sorensen has been named Interim President of FCEDC. She has been serving as Acting President since former President John Ramer went on medical leave in August of 2005.
“Brenda has done a tremendous job leading the organization during the past six months,” said Martin Ryan, FCEDC 2006 Board Chair. “She is known in Economic Development circles as being one of the top up and coming professionals in her field. During her time with FCEDC, and especially during the last six months, it has become obvious to us and many of our partners and clients that the reasons for the praise are valid. She is a true leader and a true professional with the energy to make visions reality.” Hicks-Sorensen, a certified Economic Developer (CEcD), was promoted to the position of Vice President in June of 2005. She has been with FCEDC since August of 2004. She was previously Economic Development Coordinator in Washington County and holds a Masters degree in Urban Studies and Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
Ryan noted that the process for naming a permanent President for FCEDC would conclude no later than May 31st. John Ramer, long-time President of FCEDC, resigned following his recent medical leave. A reception for Mr. Ramer is currently being planned. Details will be made available through this publication and others as soon as they are available.
