Global Trade Conference 2008"Taking Wisconsin to the World" is the theme of the 6th Annual Global Trade Conference. The event is being coordinated by the Northeast Wisconsin International Business Program and held in conjunction with Congressman Tom Petri (R-6th) and Steve Kagen (D-8th) on Tuesday, March 18th, at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton.
More than 300 attendees participated in last year’s Northeast Wisconsin Global Trade conference and were afforded a wide array of seminar sessions and presentations to increase their global competitiveness. The sessions this year include:

- International Forms of Payment and Risk Mitigation
- Export Compliance Overview
- Economic Benefits of U.S. Foreign Trade Zone Program
- Internet Trade Intelligence

Conference fees are $80 for individual and corporate registration ($75 for additional individuals from the same company) and $17 for students.

Marketing Basics for Small BusinessA two-hour workshop, “Marketing Basics for Small Business,” is being sponsored by a coalition of organizations which provide assistance to small business. It will cover the basics of marketing on a limited budget, including how to identify and select target markets, analyze the marketing strategy of competitors, build a promotional calendar, maximize the value of advertising and public relations, and evaluate marketing results.

Ripon/Green Lake session: A session will be held on March 18th, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Heritage Room, Pickard Commons at Ripon College. Local workshop sponsors include ADVOCAP, CAP Services, Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation, Ripon Chamber of Commerce, Ripon Community Development Corp., SCORE-Fox Cities Chapter, Tri-County Regional Economic Development Corp., the Green Lake, Marquette and Waushara county offices of UW-Extension and the Small Business Development Center at the UW Oshkosh.
Fond du Lac session: A session will be held on March 20th, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 220 of the Administration and Extension Building at UW-Fond du Lac. Local workshop sponsors include ADVOCAP, Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corp., SCORE – Fox Cities Chapter/Fond du Lac Branch, the Fond du Lac County office of UW-Extension, Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Small Business Development Center at UW Oshkosh.

FCEDC 19th Annual Evening"SHIFT HAPPENS: A How-to Guide on Building a Premier Community"FCEDC is excited to bring back the dynamic Chris Clarke-Epstein as the featured speaker for our 19th Annual Evening. Ms. Clarke-Epstein will present “Shift Happens: A How-To Guide on Building a Premier Community.” The presentation will build upon last year’s presentation, “TINGLE: Working Together to Build Premier Communities.” Chris will present a hands-on approach to building premier communities. She stresses that change and improvement are only possible when shifts in conventional wisdom occur and doors to collaboration are permanently unlocked.
For 20 years, Ms. Clarke-Epstein has asked today’s leaders thought-provoking questions – pushing them to find new ways to do old things, changing old mindsets to meet new challenges. Author of or contributor to nine books, her training sessions are renowned for their practical approach to complex issues, and audiences around the world have learned and laughed during her presentations.
The event includes a networking hour with an elegant stand-up buffet provided by Linstrom’s Special Occasion Catering prior to the presentation and gourmet desserts and coffee to conclude the evening.
