If you are a manufacturer and find yourself concerned about the shortage of skilled workers, a negative public image of manufacturing, fewer 18 to 24-year-olds entering into manufacturing careers, or the graying of the manufacturing workforce, you should make plans to attend the general meeting of the N.E.W. Manufacturing Alliance (NMA). 

Some Fond du Lac County manufacturers have already expressed interest in finding out more about how the joint resources and partnerships of NMA can benefit our local employers. But in order for those benefits to occur, local participation is essential. Carpools are currently forming to attend this meeting and learn about NMA's efforts in improving the image of manufacturing careers, growing partnerships with K-12 schools and media, focusing workforce development and positioning all of Northeast Wisconsin as a hub for manufacturing opportunities.

The general membership meeting will look at task force updates, including presentations on educational outreach opportunities and best practices from four-year colleges partnering with New North manufacturers. In addition, a discussion will be held on direction and future projects for NMA.

Who is NMA? It is a group of manufacturers working with educational institutions, workforce development boards, The New North, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and state organizations to promote manufacturing in the 18-county Northeast Wisconsin region. About 40 manufacturers are already taking part in NMA. 

In order to be assured of adequate meeting space, an RSVP is required for this general membership meeting which will take place on Thursday, September 6th, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board,1401 McMahon Drive, Neenah, WI.  To respond, simply contact FCEDC at info@fcedc.com or (920) 929-3688. 

Again, carpools are forming to encourage local attendance. If you are not a manufacturer or cannot attend, please pass this along to someone who can help represent Fond du Lac County at this meeting.
